Recall Alert: Child Safety Gates Recalled for Strangulation Hazard

Child Safety Gates Recalled for Strangulation Hazard

Madison Mill is recalling its foldaway expandable baby gates because they are ineffective and pose a strangulation danger for young children.

Baby Gate Recall

Madison Mill is recalling two versions of its foldaway expandable safety gates for two dangerous reasons. The gates put kids at risk of being strangled and don't block off gated areas successfully.
There’s potential for a child’s neck to be trapped in the top of the gate, leading to strangulation. Kids can also crawl under the gate and access whatever parents had been trying to block off, whether it’s a bathroom or a staircase.
The recall affects two products: Madison Mill 23 Foldaway Gate (which expands to 3 feet) and Madison Mill Foldaway 25 Gate (which expands to 5 feet).
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, parents and caregivers should stop using the gates immediately.
The folding gates could have been purchased at Do It Best stores and other independent hardware stores between January 2013 and May 2017. You can contact Madison Mill at 877-220-4705 or get more information from the company’s recall posting.
